The lined valance frames the shade nicely, and covers the lifting system which would otherwise be visible since the shade stacks at the bottom.

When the shade is fully lowered, the stack covers about 3"-13" of the bottom of the window, depending on the height of the shade and the fabric used. A short shade in a light grass fabric might only cover 3", but a high shade in a bamboo fabric will cover a lot more.

Guide cords are visible when the shade is lowered. The shade is attached at the front of the sill rail (bottom of the shade) and pulls up neatly underneath the valance. The lifting system is completely concealed by the valance.

Castec Natural Woven shades are unlined, to show off the natural fabrics to their best advantage. Privacy lining or blackout lining are available as options with this style.
